distogli l’attenzione, spegni l’interesse.
lascia scivolar via ogni illusione vana e ansiosa.

🇬🇧 The Dominion of Thoughts: A Path to Inner Peace

In the Victor’s grove, the Sublime spoke,
of thoughts arising, like clouds adrift.
If harmful thoughts assail you, practitioner,
turn your mind to what is worthy, firm, and light.

Like a slender wedge drives out a larger one,
so a pure thought dissolves what is dark.
If shadows still linger, see the misery
of those dark thoughts, a source of anguish.

And if they still persist, do not heed them,
turn away, extinguish all interest.
Like a man who stops, then sits and rests,
let go of all vain and anxious illusions.

If they persist further, clench your teeth, strong practitioner,
command your heart, calm your restless spirit.
Thus, with firm resolve and strength,
every thought dissolves, every sorrow fades.

Then, you shall be the master of thought,
choosing what is right, rejecting what is dark.
Freed from craving, unbound by fetters,
you shall conquer peace, your heart steady and collected.

Verses inspired by the Sutta “MN 20: Vitakkasanthāna Sutta – The Relaxation of Thoughts,” part of the Pali Canon, the oldest collection of the teachings of the Buddha Gotama.
